Story by Deborah Chaplin   Illustrated by Jamal Ray

Deborah Chaplin, author of Do I have to?

Deborah J. Chaplin was inspired to write her first book, "Do I Have To" after overhearing a home-schooled second grader whine on a Sunday night about having to be home schooled first thing Monday morning. That one phrase evolved into a first grade character that attends public school, which is free. Ms. Chaplin has been a Substitute Teacher with the Montgomery County Public School System in Maryland (MCPS) since 2003. Ms. Chaplin has traveled to foreign countries as a missionary, and has worked with adolescents in runaway and group home settings. She has a strong desire to impact the lives of all who are within earshot of her storytelling.
